Materials

  • G crochet hook

  • Medium Weight yarn (4)

    • Green - 5 yards

    • Red - 12 yards

  • Scissors

  • Stuffing

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain

  • dc - double crochet

  • dec - single crochet decrease (see special stitches)

  • f/o - fasten off

  • hdc - half double crochet

  • inc - single crochet increase

  • sc - single crochet

  • slst - slip stitch

  • st(s) - stitch(es)

Special Stitches

  • Decrease (dec): Insert your hook into the front loop of the next two sts sequentially, yarn over, pull through 2 loops (pull through the front loops), pull through 2 loops (finishing the sc).

Additional Notes

  • You don’t necessarily need to have medium-weight yarn but know that using smaller yarn will make the car hanging smaller and may make it unable to fit around a car mirror. Therefore, if using a smaller yarn, I would make the chain longer.

Pattern

Stem

Ch 60, f/o.

Leaves

Ch 16. Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, [*sc, hdc, dc 3 times, hdc, sc*, slst (top of first leaf). Ch 1, repeat from * to * (top of the second leaf)]. Now repeat from [ to ], going into the bottom of the ch sts. F/o and weave in ends.

Using your crochet hook, place your hook underneath the ch’s made in the middle of the leaves, and pull the stem through just a bit, leaving a loop.

Cherries (x2)

Row 1: Create a magic circle, and place 8 sc in the circle. Join the circle by slst to the first sc made. (8)

Row 2: Ch 1. Inc in each stitch around, slst to first sc. Do not hide the yarn end from the magic circle - keep it in the middle of the sphere. (16)

Using your crochet hook, insert your hook into the center of the magic circle, and pull the yarn tail from the stem through. Tie the end of the magic circle with the end of the stem to secure it.

Row 3 - 5: Ch 1. Sc in each stitch around, slst to first sc. (16)

Row 7: Ch 1. Dec in each stitch around, slst to first sc. (8)

Add stuffing.

F/o leaving a 3” tail. Weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the last round, pull close, and secure. Hide end.

Repeat instructions for the other side of the stem.
